Six injured in collision with RCMP cruiser car

Two RCMP officers had to be treated in a Steinbach hospital early Saturday morning after their cruiser car was struck by a vehicle driven by an alleged drunk driver.

The officers and four occupants of a Buick Century suffered non life-threatening injuries following the crash on Road 37 North in the RM of Ste. Anne at 1 a.m.

Police allege the driver of the Buick ran a stop sign and caused the collision.

Cameron Kostash, 24, of the community of Richer faces a number of charges, including four counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, four counts of impaired driving causing bodily harmn and three counts of uttering threats to kill a police officer.

He was also charged with resisting arrest, and is being held in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.

At the time of the incident, Kostash was also under charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle stemming from a separate incident, RCMP said.
