Six unions to rally against U of M policies and spending decisions

Six unions representing 5,200 University of Manitoba employees will hold a rally at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to protest the university’s policies and spending decisions.

The unions allege that there is increased contracting out and spending reductions across campus, while alleging that the administration is increasing its own ranks.

The unions fear the effects of the plan now underway to reduce the 20 faculties to about 13 faculties by 2017. They will hold their information picket around the administration building.
