Manitoba Hydro is still trying to restore power to 32 of 84 homes left in the dark following an overnight collision between a snow-clearing vehicle and a hydro pole in St. James.
In the midst of snow-clearing operations in the vicinity of Berry Street, a vehicle took out a hydro pole which in turn knocked down two other poles, said Manitoba Hydro public affairs manager Scott Powell.
All three poles and a transformer bank had to be replaced and the connections in the area had to be recabled, said Powell. He could not say whether a city vehicle or contractor took out the pole.
As of Saturday afternoon, power was back on at 52 homes. The remaining 32 should have power back by 7 p.m., Powell said.
