Snow knocks out power to large part of Falcon Lake

The snow storm that has played havoc with road travel in southeastern Manitoba has also left some areas without electricity.

Manitoba Hydro spokesman Glenn Schneider said a large part of the town of Falcon Lake has been without electricity since 8:30 a.m. In Falcon Lake, Schneider said, about 400 customers are still without power.

Residents in Sprague and St. Adolphe were without power for about six hours overnight, but electricity is flowing again in both those communities.

"We’ve had heavy snow on the lines, that has brought lines down," Schneider said.

A downed line knocked out power in Sprague at about 3:30 a.m. until it was restored at 9:30 a.m.

Power to St. Adolphe was knocked out at about 3:40 a.m. but was restored by 9 a.m.
