Snowmobile crash kills Peguis man

A 52-year-old Peguis First Nation man died Tuesday following a snowmobile crash.

RCMP said the man had been operating a snowmobile at a high rate of speed on Peguis First Nation when it drove into some trees around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. The driver was ejected, and was found dead about 2:30 in the afternoon.

RCMP said witness statements indicate alcohol was a contributing factor. The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The man's name will not be released.

RCMP said no other individuals were involved. Police continue to investigate.
