Sod turning today for U of W RecPlex
University of Winnipeg president Lloyd Axworthy will turn the sod this morning for the start of construction of the new indoor soccer complex and recreation/wellness centre.
Premier Greg Selinger will head a host of dignitaries taking part in the official launch of U of W’s UNITED Health&RecPlex.
It will be build between Spence and Young streets, immediately south of the Duckworth Centre.
Axworthy will also announce community charter principles that will govern use of the new facility. U of W has said that the community will have significant use of the complex, which will also be used by the university and by organized sports.
