There was a small chemical spill at St. Boniface Hospital this morning.
The incident occurred at 10 a.m. in the receiving area of the facility. The chemical, formalin, is a formaldehyde solution. The hazardous materials unit has been called in to clean up the spill and the area has been contained and cordoned off.
The quantity of formalin that was spilled is not known.
A statement from St. Boniface Hospital indicates no patients, visitors or staff are at risk and that the hospital is continuing its business as usual.
