Stabbing sends 41-year-old man to hospital

A 41-year-old man is in hospital after being stabbed during a fight on Friday.

Winnipeg police said the man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the upper body. There has been no update on his condition.

Police said a group of people were socializing together in the 500 block of Balmoral Street at about 10:45 p.m., when the victim and another man got into a verbal dispute which then escalated.

Police said a man was arrested at the scene.

A 36-year-old man is facing charges of aggravated assault and possessing a dangerous weapon.

The man has been detained in custody.
