Stay off waterways, warn emergency officials

This is not the time to be playing on the ice, warns the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.
The emergency professionals are reminding people to be cautious around ice-covered bodies of water, like rivers, streams, creeks, ponds and ditches. The spring melt is on the way, creating dangerous conditions.
In 2012, the WFPS received nearly 100 water and ice safety calls, which resulted in search and rescue efforts for 30 of those calls. Fortunately, none resulted in a tragedy.
