Steinbach man charged after marijuana plants found

A Steinbach resident has been charged after more than 100 marijuana plants were found growing in a hidden room.

Steinbach RCMP said today a 35-year-old man has been charged with producing marijuana and possessing marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. He has been released and will appear in Steinbach court on Nov. 7.

RCMP said that during a traffic stop on Sunday officers saw suspicious items in the vehicle. Because of this, the officers went to the residence of the owner of the vehicle where they smelled marijuana.

Police found 120 marijuana plants and growing equipment in a hidden room in the house after they obtained a search warrant.
