Some flights to and from Eastern Canada are being delayed or canceled today due to a snowstorm affecting airports in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.
Air Canada has already canceled a flight from Toronto to Winnipeg, and a subsequent Winnipeg to Toronto flight, said Christine Payne, Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. communications manager.
Anyone scheduled to travel east can check the authority's web site, but should also check directly with the airline, Payne advised.
"Check often if you are traveling today anywhere to the East," Payne said.
Dozens of flights have already been cancelled at Toronto's Pearson International Airport. The storm struck the U.S. Midwest and is angling across Eastern Canada.
The Toronto area received a heavy dose of rain and snow overnight and was expected to receive about five centimetres of additional snow throughout the day.
Areas north of the city received about 10 centimetres of snow during the night and Environment Canada said another five to 10 centimetres was likely Wednesday. Eastern Ontario was expected to receive about 15 centimetres by early Thursday.
