Stretch of Hwy. 201 closed due to fire reopens

The highway closed earlier this month by a wildfire in the Vita area of southern Manitoba was reopened today.

Highway 201, from Highway 59 to Highway 302, has been closed for the past two weeks due to a fire in the area and bridge repairs.

Four homes and a bridge were destroyed, but no one was injured in the fire.

Two separate vehicles drove around a warning barrier and fell several feet through the smouldering bridge. The drivers escaped with their lives, but their vehicles were left as charred wrecks.
