Winnipeggers may cry Havoc upon seeing the cast of a drama shooting in Winnipeg this week.

Lucas Till, who played the role of Havoc/Alex Summers in the movie X-Men First Class will play a prominent New York DJ ordered by the court to live with his father in a North Dakota town in the film Strings, which commences shooting in town June 6.

The film also stars Maria Bello, the Golden Globe-nominated star of films such as A History of Violence and The Cooler and the recent TV series Prime Suspect.

The film was written by Oscar Torres and will be directed by feature newcomer Daniel Duran, a veteran of some 50 music videos.

Other cast members include Kherington Payne (Fame, So You Think You Can Dance), Jae Head (Hancock, The Blind Side) and Sharlene Taule (Grachi).

Entertainment industry newspaper Variety has reported that Tom Everett Scott is also in the cast.

The film will have a serious dance component. Till’s character falls for the dance captain of a small town dance team, and Brian Friedman, choreographer to stars such as Beyoncé and Britney Spears, has tweeted about the film.

Strings will be produced by Torres, Duran, Danny Rodriguez (Mooz-Lum) and Buffalo Gal Pictures’ Phyllis Laing.
