Struck pedestrian reluctant to talk about crash: police

Police are investigating after a 19-year-old man was hurt in a crash with a GMC Sierra.

The collision happened Thursday at about 11 p.m. near Portage Avenue and Golf Boulevard.

The GMC Sierra was heading westbound on Portage, and the man was walking southbound across Portage when he was struck.

Police said a 20-year-old man was driving the Sierra, and has co-operated with police.

Alcohol consumption by the driver does not appear to be a factor, said police.

"We are making efforts to speak to the pedestrian regarding this matter," said Michalyshen, who said the pedestrian has been "a little bit less than forthcoming" about what happened.
