Suspects can't run from police teamwork

  • Print

You might be able to evade a squad car, the police helicopter or the canine unit on their own, but all three combined? Fuhgeddaboudit.

Five people found this out the hard way and three of them are now facing a variety of charges, including flight from a police officer, possessing a controlled drug or substance and public mischief, after an early-morning chase on Tuesday.

Police say officers attempted to pull over a red Cadillac at about 2:20 a.m. for a moving violation near Salter Street and Boyd Avenue. Rather than stopping, however, the driver sped off, starting a high-speed chase.

Police helicopter Air1 was called in to maintain a visual on the suspect vehicle, which eventually stopped in the 100 block of Inksbrook Drive where the occupants decided to try their luck on foot.

With help from the K9 unit, five people were apprehended and taken into custody. Two of them are not facing any charges at this time.
