Suzuki, Rubin coming to Winnipeg

David Suzuki, arguably this country’s best known scientist and naturalist, will be touching down in Winnipeg this fall as part of a tour aimed at discussing how Canada can achieve a sustainable future.
The longtime host of CBC’s The Nature of Things and world leader in sustainable ecology will visit McNally Robinson on Oct. 1 as part of an Eco Tour. Joining Suzuki will be Jeff Rubin, the award-winning, best-selling author of The End of Growth who was once the chief economist and strategist for CIBC World Markets.
The two men met earlier this year in Vancouver and share similar interest in economics and ecology.
"The challenge with climate change is now how we can afford to reduce emissions, but how we construct an economy that lives within the confines of nature’s boundaries," said Suzuki in a press release. "The only thing we can change is what we create ourselves and the only thing we can manage is our own species."
The tour, promoted by Random House Canada and Greystone Books, begins Sept. 23rd in Toronto and includes eight stops across the country.
Jeff Rubin will be in conversation with Winnipeg Free Press business columnist and reporter, Martin Cash, at the Free Press News Café on Wednesday, June 6, at 9 a.m.
