Teen facing charges after BB gun used to shoot out car windows

The Winnipeg Police Service’s helicopter is being credited with helping snare a teenager believed to have shot out the windows of several parked vehicles in Elmwood.

AIR1 was called, as well as uniform patrol and the service’s Tactical Support Team, after residents said their windows were shot out by a BB gun on Sunday at about 1:55 a.m., police spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said today.

Michalyshen said the helicopter crew spotted a suspect vehicle on the Redwood Bridge heading to the North End and notified ground units which quickly stopped it.

A 17-year-old youth is facing five counts of mischief under $5,000 and possession of a dangerous weapon.
