Teen in critical condition after being hit by truck in Reinfeld

An 18-year-old female is in hospital in critical condition and two others are injured after being hit by a truck on New Year's Eve.

On Tuesday, only 30 minutes before the new year, RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a collision between a  1997 Toyota Tacoma and three pedestrians in Reinfeld, Manitoba, a small town east of Winkler.

Carman RCMP say the southbound truck on Reinfeld Street South struck a male and two females walking on the roadway.

The male pedestrian and one of the females were admitted into Boundary Trails Health Centre in Winkler.

The second female, 18, suffered more severe injuries and was brought to a hospital in Winnipeg, She is currently in critical condition.

The 16-year-old driver of the truck is from the Winkler area. He was not injured.

Police are continuing to investigate with help from an RCMP traffic collision analyst.
