Teens arrested after smashed window leads to beating

A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital in serious condition early Monday morning after he was beaten by a group of individuals who suspected him of breaking the front picture window of their North End home.

Police said the incident began just after midnight Monday morning, when the front picture window of a home in the 500 block of Boyd Avenue was smashed by four suspects who fled the area.

Four occupants of the home chased the suspects, and caught up with a 22-year-old man, in the 400-block of Aberdeen Avenue, who they believed was part of the group who smashed their window.

Police said the 22-year-old was badly beaten with weapons.

After the assault, the occupants of the home fled the area.

Neighbours contacted police, who found the broken window and the badly injured 22-year-old man.

Two teenaged boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested nearby and charged with several assault and weapon related offences. They were detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.

Police are looking for two other individuals suspected of participating in the assault.
