Teens charged after downtown robberies

Two teens have been arrested in connection with the assault and robbery of a 29-year-old man at a Graham Avenue bus stop.

A 29-year-old man was waiting for a bus in the 400 block of Graham Avenue around 7:40 p.m. Saturday when he was approached by two unknown males, police said. They assaulted the man and stole his personal property before they fled.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his upper body and was taken to hospital in stable condition, police said.

While police were at the scene, they received a report of another robbery in the 300 block of Portage Avenue. Police said two males confronted two men on Portage Avenue and stole items from them.

Two teens were apprehended by security officers from a downtown mall and held until police arrived.

A 19-year-old Winnipeg man and a 17-year-old boy have been charged with robbery with violence. They are in police custody.

Police are asking the victims of the strongarm robbery in the 300 block of Portage Avenue to speak to investigators about the incident. They are also looking for another person who was robbed at Portage Avenue and Donald Street around 6:50 p.m. Saturday.
