A pair of thefts has left Habitat for Humanity folks wondering where the compassion is.
The break-ins occurred at two different construction sites. The first occurred on Aug. 10 at the Nairn Avenue site where suspects broke into a trailer and took 18 Dewalt cordless drills before fleeing the scene.
A week later on Aug. 17, suspects broke into a trailer at the Riverton Avenue build site. The entire trailer of tools including generators, a Bosch mitre saw, Passlode nailers, a Dewalt reciprocating saw and various other tools were stolen with a value estimated over $5,000.
The loss of tools has resulted in delays to the construction schedule for the non-profit organization.
Officials at Habitat for Humanity are asking the community to be on the lookout for any out of the ordinary activity at the build sites during off-hours and to call police if they witness any suspicious behavior.
