Things back to normal at CN after derailment
Operations at CN Rail’s Fort Rouge yards are back to normal today after a derailment Saturday forced a temporary shutdown.
A CN Rail spokeswoman said eight cars derailed shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday – two cars remained standing and six cars were on their sides.
The main line through the yards was shut down for several hours while the derailment was cleaned up.
No hazardous materials were spilled and there was no threat to public safety.
Regular operations resumed at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The spokeswoman said the cause of the derailment is unknown at this time, but it remains the subject of an investigation.
