Three dead after Highway 317 head-on collision

RCMP now say all three people involved in an horrific crash northeast of Winnipeg on Saturday have died.

The collision occurred on Highway 317 near Libau when the driver of an eastbound Buick Allure tried to pass a vehicle but struck another car head on at about 1:30 p.m.

The driver of the Buick Allure was identified as an 87-year-old man from the RM of St. Andrews. He died at the scene. His passenger, a 91-year-old woman, also from the RM of St. Andrews, died in hospital overnight.

The driver of the other car, who died at the scene, has been identified as a 69-year-old woman from Lac du Bonnet.

The names of the deceased will not be released.

Police continue to investigate.
