  • Print

Six injured hogs had to be put down and the driver of the rig hauling them has been charged following an accident near Portage la Prairie today.

RCMP said the 20-year-old semi-trailer driver was charged with imprudent driving after the truck he was driving rolled over on Highway 16 near the Trans-Canada Highway.

The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the uninjured hogs have been picked up by their owner, RCMP said. Highway traffic was disrupted for several hours because of the accident, police said.
