Truck rolls after hitting construction warning sign on highway

A 32-year-old Winnipeg man was injured early today when his 1998 Dodge Ram pick-up hit an electronic highway construction warning sign near Brandon and rolled in a ditch, Blue Hills RCMP report.

The driver, who was the lone occupant in the truck, was transported to Brandon Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The rollover occurred at 12:20 a.m., four kilometres east of Brandon, on Highway 1 in the RM of Cornwallis , RCMP  said.

The man is presently facing charges of disqualified driving, however, the matter remains under investigation, as alcohol also appears to have been a factor in the crash, RCMP said.

EMS from Brandon as well as RCMP investigators from Brandon and Souris, attended the scene. A traffic analyst was called to assist in the investigation. East-bound lanes of Highway 1 were closed for several hours, but are now open.
