Two Manitobans get Veterans awards today

Two Manitobans are among a group of 11 people from across the prairies who will receive the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation today in Winnipeg.

Juliet Lafortune and Stanley Miner, both from Winnipeg, will receive the commendation this morning at a ceremony at the Fort Garry Hotel. Other recipients of the commendation hail from Calgary, Edmonton and Regina.

The commendation is awarded annually to individuals who have contributed in an exemplary manner to the care and well-being of veterans or to the remembrance of the contributions, sacrifices and achievements of veterans.

The commendation is intended primarily for veterans, but may also be awarded to non-veterans.
