A mother and daughter from Winnipeg died after a head-on crash in North Kildonan Saturday night.
The crash, which happened around 9:30 p.m., occurred on Gateway near Budden Drive and was between an SUV and a passenger car.
Police said a Ford Explorer was travelling northbound on Gateway when it veered into the southbound lanes, colliding with a Pontiac Grand Am.
The occupants of the car, aged 23 and 42, were taken from the scene in critical condition and later succumbed to their injuries.
Winnipeg police didn't release the names of the deceased.
The 28-year-old woman and 31-year-old man in the Ford Explorer were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed for several hours while officers investigated.
Winnipeg police continue to investigate, and are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact investigators at 204-986-6271 or via Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
