Two males jump out of van downtown and beat man

Police tape was up this morning at the Carlton Inn, where a bloody jacket, a large blood stain and a pile of change lay on the ground in front of the hotel.

A woman standing outside the hotel, at 220 Carlton St., said she was told two men jumped out of a van around 7:40 a.m. and beat up another man. She said she was not sure if the man who was assaulted was originally in the van with the attackers.

A man outside the hotel said: "Somebody got his head stomped into the sidewalk by two guys in a van. I know they stomped him really bad and I noticed he wasn’t breathing until they gave him CPR."

The manager of the hotel would not comment, only saying "he was still breathing when they took him away." He also said a maid from the Carlton inn got the licence plate number of the van.
