  • Print

Two males are facing charges after allegedly trying to steal a pair of vehicles overnight.

At approximately 2:20 a.m., a person entered an unlocked F-150 pickup truck in the 700 block of Coventry Road and drove off. A second person entered the truck in the area of Elmhurst Road.

Investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly located a different vehicle key inside the truck and went back to the same area where the truck was stolen to try to gain access to another vehicle with the found key. While searching for a match, the owner confronted the suspects, who fled in the stolen truck.

With district officers and the Air1 police helicopter in pursuit, the suspects allegedly abandoned the truck in the area of the 1200 block of Edderton Avenue and were later caught by police.

A 16-year-old and an 18-year-old are facing vehicle theft-related numerous charges. The two are also facing marijuana possession charges.

The 16-year-old was detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre. The 18-year-old was released on a promise to appear.
