Two victims succumb to injuries in North End stabbings

Separate stabbings in the North End early Saturday morning became murder investigations when victims in both events died from their injuries this weekend.

On Saturday at approximately 2:15 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue after reports of a stabbing.

Officers located two male victims suffering from knife wounds. Both were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. While one man was later upgraded to stable condition. John James Allan Lund, 25, died from his injuries.

Anton Joseph Biggeorge, 22, has been charged with several offences including second-degree murder and attempted murder. He is being detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.

In a separate incident that same morning just hours and metres away, emergency personnel were called to the 400 block of Manitoba Avenue shortly after 4:30 a.m.  for the report of a stabbing.

Officers located an adult male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. The male was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have identified the victim as 30-year-old Michael James Keith Flett.

The investigation is being continued by members of the homicide unit. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
