Two women face robbery charges after a woman was assaulted on north Main Street on Saturday.
Winnipeg police reported the arrests Sunday.
An attempted robbery was reported just before 6 p.m. on Saturday. Investigators say a 26-year-old woman had just purchased a quantity of liquor and was standing outside a business in the 1000 block of Main Street when she was accosted.
Two women confronted her. One of them distracted the woman by asking for a cigarette. The second woman physically assaulted the victim, then both tried to rob her.
A passer-by came to the victim’s aid and the suspects took off on foot. Officers who were called to the scene were told the two suspects were still in the area.
A short time later, two suspects were located and arrested on Main Street near Selkirk Avenue.
Tia Hudson, 18, and Maxine Carpenter, 28, face charges and remained in custody Sunday.
