U of M unveils new medical chair today

The University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Medicine will unveil a new chair that will focus on surgical research, to be named after a prominent Winnipeg family well-known for its contributions in health care.

The announcement will take place today at 9:30 a.m. at the John Buhler Research Centre Atrium at the Bannatyne Campus at 715 McDermot Avenue.

The faculty hopes the chair will attract talented trainees into surgical research disciplines.

The research chair is funded in part by faculty members in the Department of Surgery and a foundation set up by the to-be-announced family.
