The hero of the University of Manitoba Bisons' stunning comeback win in last Friday's playoff victory was honoured with divisional attention today.
Third-year receiver Nic Demski, who turned in three touchdown catches in the fourth quarter to carry the Bisons to a 37-36 home win over the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in the Canada West semifinal, was named the Canada West offensive player of the week.
The winning score, a 32-yard strike from pivot Jordan Yantz, launched the Bisons ahead with just 1:32 left in the game.
The Bisons are heading to Calgary this week to challenge the undefeated Dinos for the divisional championship. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday.
This is the first time Manitoba has reached the conference final since their 2007 Vanier Cup Championship season.
