Vancouver man charged after crystal meth found

Winnipeg police arrested a 37-year-old Vancouver man and seized three pounds of crystal meth after a traffic stop in west Winnipeg late Sunday night.

Police patrolling in the 3500 block of Portage Avenue stopped a vehicle with one occupant at about 11:50 p.m. A search of the car found the crystal meth, which has a street value of $420,000, a police release said. Police also seized $440 in Canadian currency, the release added.

Charged and in custody is Mohammed Akrawi, 37, of Vancouver. He faces drug trafficking and possession charges, as well as a charge of possessing the proceeds of crime.
