WAA reports increase in traffic at airport in 4th quarter

Passenger traffic was up slightly in the fourth quarter of 2012 at Winnipeg’s James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, ending a year when there were passenger increases every month.

The Winnipeg Airports Authority reported revenue of $21.2 million for the fourth quarter, compared to $19.9 million for the same period last year. Earnings before interest, depreciation and taxes were $9.2 million, compared to $8.0 million for the same period in 2011.

During the fourth quarter, WAA opened a 7-Eleven on the airport campus and Harvey’s opened on the main level of the terminal. The airport was also named one of the "World’s Most Stylish Airports" by The Telegraph newspaper in the UK.

Late last year the WAA announced it was increasing the airport improvement fee to $25 from $20 on April 1, 2013.
