Dennis Nash fears no post-Christmas credit card bill.
The Winnipegger won a cool $8.1 million in the LOTTO 6/49 draw on Dec. 28.
A regular player, he bought an $18 ticket with his six regular lines, a collection of important numbers and dates that his father used to play, at a Pembina Highway Mac’s store on Saturday morning.
Before he went to bed that night, he called the winning numbers telephone line and thought the first three sounded familiar.
"Then I started comparing and realized that the first five numbers matched," he said.
He didn’t get overly excited because he matched five numbers last February and pocketed a paltry $2,200.
"Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw the sixth number matched, too. I couldn’t believe it!" he said.
Nash held one of two tickets with the winning numbers — 13, 20, 23, 34, 38 and 46 — and is splitting the total jackpot of $16,383,989 with somebody in Calgary.
Nash said he plans to pay off some bills and take a tropical vacation but he doesn’t have any big plans for his windfall yet.
"I’d like to help some close family and friends," he said.
