Woman, 18, arrested after stabbing

An 18-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in the 300 block of McKelvey Street.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the home at 1 a.m. Sunday morning in response to reports of a stabbing. When arriving on scene, police found a 30-year-old woman inside the home suffering from an injury consistent with a stab wound. She was admitted to hospital in unstable condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Investigations reveal that the victim and an 18-year-old woman got into a dispute inside the home. The situation escalated when the 18-year-old revealed a knife and allegedly stabbed the victim.

An 18-year-old suspect was located and arrested at the scene. She is facing charges of aggravated assault and two counts of failure to comply with a sentence. She is currently being detained by police.

Investigations continue with the help of the Forensic Identification Section.
