  • Print

A 28-year-old woman is dead after she was struck on Highway 10 while trying to flag down a car.

Swan River RCMP says the woman, from Minitonas, was walking along the highway on July 26 just after midnight. As she stepped out onto the road a westbound car struck her.

She was transported to Swan River Valley Health Centre, and pronounced dead. The driver from Brandon suffered minor injuries. RCMP said alcohol appears to be a factor for the woman, but not the driver.

The investigation is ongoing.

The name of the deceased will not be released, the release stated.
