Woman rescued from Red River
A woman spotted 100 metres from shore in the Red River this morning was rescued by police, who pulled her into an inflatable Zodiac.
The rescue happened at around 8 a.m. Winnipeg police did not release any details about the woman's condition or how she ended up in the river.
The drama began with a call to Winnipeg police at 7:45 a.m, when a person was spotted in the river, near the area of the Provencher Bridge. Reports indicated she was 100 metres out from the shore, so police sent out the Zodiac and picked her up.
She was put ashore at the Alexander Docks where an ambulance had been called to the scene.
Police are still investigating the incident.
