Expect a clear, chilly New Year's Eve

It may have been one of the warmest years on record in southern Manitoba, but 2012 will end with a chill.
According to Environment Canada, today’s high is a sunny but brisk -20 C. Temperatures will drop to -25 C by the time the clock strikes midnight, with a wind chill of -34.
New year’s Day will be cloudy but milder, with a high of -12 C and a chance of flurries.
It won't be a bad day to spend some time skating on The Forks' river trail, after the second leg of the skating trail opened Sunday.
The trail opened up down the Assiniboine River to Osborne Street, and there are access points at both Osborne and the legislative building. A small portion of the Assiniboine trail opened up last week.
On Wednesday, expect more of the same, with a chance of flurries and a high of -11 C.
Things are expected to warm up by the weekend, with highs of -9 C on Friday and Saturday and -6 C by Sunday.
