"Representing athletes can be a very difficult and challenging profession," Bettman told the Free Press on Thursday. "Don always did it with integrity, intelligence and class. He was always forthright and a pleasure to deal with."

Baizley represented some of the game's elite players such as Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson, and certainly some of the greatest Winnipeg Jets, including Teemu Selanne and Thomas Steen.

"Today was a sad day for the sport of hockey," Selanne said in a statement released by the Anaheim Ducks. "Don was a very special person. He was not only a great agent for me, he was my 'American Dad,' great friend, mentor and supporter during my career. Don will always have a special place in my heart."
