Biebrich running for Conservatives in Concordia
WINNIPEG — A sales manager for a car dealership and Conservative party organizer is the Progressive Conservative candidate in Concordia.
Brian Biebrich declared his candidacy Tuesday in the March 2 by-election.
Biebrich said today his campaign will focus on crime.
He said he stepped down as president of the Elmwood-Transcona Electoral District Association for the Conservative party to campaign for the provincial legislature.
The constituency's seat has been vacant since October when former Premier Gary Doer became Canada's ambassador to the United States. Doer held the seat for 23 years.
Matthew Wiebe, Doer's former constituency executive assistant, was chosen as the NDP candidate in November. Social worker Judi Heppner will carry the Liberal banner. Ellen Young, a University of Manitoba student, is the Green Party's candidate.
There are currently 35 New Democrats, 19 Progressive Conservatives, two Liberals and one vacant seat in the Manitoba legislature.
The winner in Concordia should be in the legislature March 23 when a new budget is tabled and MLAs go back to work.

@ pentax99:
I believe Doer used to run in Concordia because he actually lived in the riding, not because it's a socialist paradise as you so eloquently stated.

What's the matter with the Tories? Couldn't they find a booze salesman? On second thought, they already tried that and it was a disaster - JFJ.
Oh well McFud now has demonstrated again that he's not cut out to a be leader, let alone Premier.

How does someone that lives and stumps in Elmwood-Transcona know what the needs are in Concordia??
Sounds like he is grasping for exposure to me...

The NDP will likely get in. The Progressive Conservatives really haven't got their act together which is unfortunate for those of us who want change. It will be hard for them in the next provincial election, never mind a by-election. Interesting that the NDP chose their candidate in November. They were the first out of the gate, so to speak. In fact, I received campaign brochures in my mailbox from the NDP and the PC's hadn't even chosen a candidate yet.

Who cares, Concordia is saturated with socialists. The NDP could run a stray dog and it would be elected. Why do you think the opportunist Doer ran there?

Better stick to selling cars! The provincial conservatives are in a mess. Hugh McFud hasn't a clue.
