Couple arrested in marijuana bust
RCMP arrested a couple from Winnipeg after seizing 600 marijuana plants during a grow-op bust in the RM of St. Anne Wednesday.
Steinbach RCMP searched a Lake Riviera Estates home, and discovered the plants as well as packaged marijuana, an estimated street value of $600,000.
Both were released for a court date in August and are facing several drug related charges.

How on earth is our government NOT selling this stuff? Harmless substances like marijuana should be packaged and milked for their tax revenue. Then you wouldnt have cowboys growing it on the cheap, destroying homes and putting money in the hands of criminals.

These police always over-estimate the value of their seizures; they value the marijuana at its potential value, the value it will have once a complete flowering cycle has occured, even if the plant is early in its vegetative cycle.
This means that even if the "pot" is not ready for smoking and essentially valueless on the streets, it is concidered by the police as if it were completely ready for smoking or the market.
so, there are a lot of inaccuracies, most times in the evaluation of the "pot".

Legalize it already!
Never been a lover of pot, but I really don't see what the difference is between pot, alcohol, smoking or gambling. All are bad for you! ;-(

I agree with old crow. It's unfortunate they just couldn't give the chronic away at the next police auction. An estimate of 1 grand a plant musta meant some pretty decent bud.

Holy Moley! What is with all the drug busts in Ste Anne area lately? Are these idiots nuts or something, don't you know small towns are famous for neighbours knowing what your up to even in you dont want them too! And Riviera Estates yet! Nothing surprises me anymore!
