Feds announce aboriginal job program for Sioux Lookout

A new employment project in Sioux Lookout will give Aboriginal youth access to job training and work experience, the federal government announced today.

The Sioux Lookout Area Aboriginal Management Board is set to receive more than $90,000 in federal funds for a project that will help 28 on-reserve youth in a number of Northwestern Ontario first nations.

The money will allow them to work for 35 hours per week for eight weeks at activities include general office work, accounting and bookkeeping, recreational activities coordination, and assisting elderly people in their homes.

Kenora MP Greg Rickford made the announcement on behalf of human resources and skills development Minister Diane Finley.
