Three Manitoba First Nations get kits to help with flood clean-up

Three flood-affected Manitoba First Nations will receive more than 200 mops and other cleaning supplies to help mop up homes damaged in the flood.

The Canadian Red Cross Society’s Manitoba region is sending out the clean-up kits to Peguis First Nation, Fisher River First Nation, and Roseau River First Nation. The first supplies will arrive in Peguis on Thursday  to benefit both Peguis and Fisher River, while 50 kits will go to Roseau on Friday.

"Many families in these communities are returning to their homes after several weeks of being evacuated," Amanda Herbert, director of the Red Cross’ disaster response team, said in a statement today.

"We’re hoping these kits will help kick-start the clean-up process and give people some of the tools they need to put the pieces back together as they move on towards recovery."
