Winnipeg's top lawyers honoured today

WINNIPEG - The Manitoba Bar Association will honour the best in the legal community when it hands out its annual awards at a luncheon today.
The Hon. Madam Justice Sylvia Guertin Riley of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench will be presented with the most coveted piece of hardware — the Distinguished Service Award — for a career in which she has been a resolution-seeker, a mentor, a protector of children’s best interests, a spirited community contributor and an arts enthusiast.
Dave Wright, a partner at Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson LLP, will be recognized with the Pro Bono Award for his work on behalf of Manitobans living with disabilities, while Nicole Merrick of Taylor McCaffrey LLP, will be given the Community Involvement Award.
Other recipients include the wealth and estate law group of Inkster Christie Hughes LLP (Headnotes & Footnotes Award) and the Women Lawyers’ Forum (Section Award).
The awards will be handed out at the Fort Garry Hotel.
