Booking at provincial parks begins Monday
DIG out the camping equipment because Manitoba's provincial parks are opening for business.
Manitobans can reserve cabins, yurts and group-areas starting Monday.
Gord Mackintosh, minister of conservation and water stewardship, announced the opening Friday.
"The opening day for cabins, yurts and group-use areas reservations has been moved from the first Monday in February to streamline operations, while still offering campers the opportunity to avoid the April rush," said Mackintosh in a press release.
As part of the province's Building the Parks Province: Manitoba's Parks Strategy, there will be more yurts and accessible cabins in the future.
"This new strategy outlines how we can sustain our parks into the future, enhance the park experience and develop new services for active families while strengthening our environmental stewardship," said Mackintosh.
The plan also includes eight new campgrounds in Manitoba, WiFi for campsites, improved roads and new facilities. The move is part of a $100-million investment by the province between 2013 and 2020.
Reservations for yurts, cabins and group camping in person can be arranged at 200 Saulteaux Cres., Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
