Little mercy for Lorde

LORDE is starting to grumble about stardom. The New Zealand pop sensation went home after winning that Grammy Award, and got jostled by a media mob at Auckland airport.

Her tweets about it were later deleted, but several media outlets preserved them: "NZ media almost pushed over myself and my family at the airport this morning... Bit of a sad welcome if I'm honest."

And "the fact that I'm getting used to it frightens me... There is a difference between attention from fans, which I love, and the constant, often lecherous gaze that I'm subjected to in this industry.

"I know that success comes with a price tag. It just sucks when you see that in your tiny home country where you previously felt safe."

Gobble gobble

MY old favourite Minnie Driver plays an unswerving vegan in this new NBC series About A Boy, so of course she's getting questions about her real-life eating habits,

"I'm not a vegan," she told "But I went to a farm school. I used to have a pig. So I can't eat pigs. And I like lambs, so I can't eat them. And I used to have to milk cows, so I can't eat cows ... I hate turkeys, so I eat them."

Wow. Obviously she's not getting enough animal protein, and bad things are happening to her brain.

She's 43.

Too much love, actually

NOW it can be told: Remember Hugh Grant's lover Tinglan Hong having his baby, at the end of 2012? Well, it turns out that just three months earlier his other lover, Swedish TV producer Anna Elisabet Eberstein, also had his baby. The Sun, in England, broke this story the other day.

Anna and Tinglan "were pregnant with Hugh's children at the same time. It's an unusual arrangement," says the paper's Nameless Insider. "Anna is being supported by Hugh all the way." The Daily Mail says she lives in a $4 million "mansion apartment" in West London, for which he paid.

Hong's son, Felix, is her second child with Grant; their daughter Tabitha is 2 now. The baby with Eberstein - first name not given - is a boy.

Hugh is 53.

Keeping anger in cheque

IF you go around hitting people, bring your chequebook. That's the lesson in this news, via, that Kanye West paid $250,000 to some Dull Normal - age 18, name not given - after a Beverly Hills brawl Jan. 13.

The guy reportedly used the "n" word while insulting West's fiancée Kim Kardashian. So Kanye tracked the guy down and thumped him. The man pressed charges; West wrote a cheque. End of story.

Looking for more help?

HEIDI Klum has dumped her bodyguard-turned-boyfriend Martin Kirsten, 18 months after she divorced the singer Seal, father of her three children, to take up with Marty.

You'll recall that Seal took her abandonment badly, making grumpy comments about "fornicating with the help".

She's 40. Kirsten is 41.

Don't get knickers in a knot

YES, 50 Cent Instagrammed a photo of himself beside Meryl Streep at a New York Knicks game last Sunday night. But no, they aren't dating. Get a grip, people!

It was coincidence that seated them beside each other; they each came with friends. I'm kind of surprised that either one could identify the other, but they did.

The encounter left Fiddy more excited than Meryl; he's the one who went all Instagram. One pic showed the odd couple with injured Laker star Kobe Bryant. The caption: "Things got a little gangsta Lol ..."

Trophy baby

ACTRESS Malin Akerman, raising her son Sebastian alone after her rocker hubby Roberto Zincone ditched her, has discovered what other moms discover: "He's kind of amazing... all I want to do is hold that baby".

Mind you, being a rich celeb she's pretty sheltered, which means "It's so much fun... every moment. I get to bring him to work every day... Everyone on set are like his aunts and uncles. He's going to be a really social baby."

Malin is starring these days in ABC's sitcom Trophy Wife, with Bradley Whitford. Zincone left her in November, when the lad was just seven months old. Malin's 35.

It's tough being broke

IN 2010, singer Toni Braxton filed for bankruptcy, reporting $50 million in debt. I wonder what her creditors will say now that she has spent almost $3 million on a house in Justin Bieber's neighbourhood, in Calabasas, Calif.

(Wait! What? Why? Is she hoping fame is contagious? Is she eager to score some sizzurp? Does she have a thing for him? I say we must be told!)

The house -- over 490 square meters, four bedrooms, five bathrooms -- is small for the neighbourhood, but still not bad. She has a "reality show" entering its third season on a U.S. cable channel called We TV; I guess there's good money in that.

Fashion games

NICE work if you can get it: Jennifer Lawrence has been offered more money than most of us make in a lifetime, to sign a three-year deal to endorse Dior fashions, says the N.Y. Post. The paper's exclusive mentions, but doesn't seem quite sure about, a $15 to $20 million pricetag on the deal.

JLaw's been plugging Dior duds since 2012, so the only really surprising thing here is the dollar figure.

Reznor riled

THE Grammy show on CBS the other night ran long -- as awards shows do. So the closing musical production was cut off. (Who knew that might happen? Really, the well-paid geniuses in charge didn't see that coming?)

Trent Reznor, Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and Lindsay Buckingham got in most of two songs, but then got the chop.

Reznor was so mad he Twittered in ALL CAPS: "Music's biggest night ... to be disrespected. A heartfelt (BAD WORD) YOU guys."

None of the other performers has gone public with any complaints yet. Too busy cashing their cheques, I'm guessing.

Bad boy, bad dad?

OR maybe he's just a jerk: The Daily Mirror tracked down one Cory Bernier, said to be a "family friend" of the Biebers. Justin allegedly calls this guy "Uncle Cory."

He explains the young star's recent bad-boy antics this way: "Justin has a very good heart but his judgement is being clouded by drugs and alcohol and a lot of it is to impress his dad."

And this: ''The family is concerned about Justin but they don't believe he has a problem. He walks around without a shirt on but that's just ego -- and that's his dad's ego too.''
