Winnipeg police are investigating after an 11-year-old girl says a stranger tried to abduct her as she walked to school Wednesday morning.
The child was in the area of Arbuthnot Street and Warsaw Avenue around 9 a.m. when the alleged incident occurred.
Police say the girl described having an unknown man grab her by the arm and try to pull her down Arbuthnot. She said the man didn't speak and she managed to break free and run home, where police were contacted. There were no physical injuries.
The suspect is described as Caucasian, 50 to 60 years of age, short with a slight build and a mole on his face. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, maroon tuque with pompom and had a scarf wrapped around his mouth.
Members of the child abuse unit continue their investigation.
