Dow's death not foul play

AN autopsy has confirmed a former Winnipeg police officer died of natural causes while serving a sentence at Headingley Correctional Centre.Richard Norman Dow, 58, was found unconscious on Tuesday in the jail about 10:30 a.m.

RCMP, fire and EMS crews rushed to the jail, but couldn't revive him.

An autopsy was performed on Wednesday and it determined Dow died from natural causes and not foul play.

RCMP said no additional information will be released.

Dow was sentenced last September to 16 months in jail after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting 11 young women who agreed to model in his off-duty photography business between 2001 and 2005.

Dow, a 19-year veteran police officer, was put on administrative leave after his arrest in November 2006.
